Ben - Session Two - Splash Bang Wallop

Ben awoke and wandered into the living room, on his desk were a receipt from a boatyard for the hire of small boat and a key with a label on which Maggie had written Boat strongbox, intriguing he thought as he grabbed the receipt and the key. Maggie wasn’t around and he was already late so he would have to ask her about it later.
He took a cab to the boatyard and met the others there; DeLuca, the angry Caitiff ex-policeman, Louise, the Brujah campaigner and Reggie, the surprisingly quiet Toreador.
They exchanged greetings and boarded the boat, Ben spotted the strongbox tucked in the front of the boat near the wheel; he turned the key and pushed up the lid to reveal four Thompson submachine guns, Maggie was obviously expecting trouble but where had she managed to obtain these? Ben resolved to ask her later. He handed out the guns which were initially refused by both Louise and Reggie as they had no experience of using firearms, he wasn’t unduly surprised.
Ben started the boat and they set off following the map they had been given, as they got close to the location marked it seemed sensible to cut the engine and to punt the boat using the pole that had been provided. With Ben steering and DeLuca manning the guns so to speak Louise volunteered to punt. Was she so keen to volunteer to prove she could do it as well as a man? Whatever her reason it was a good decision as they made swift and silent progress towards the stills.
Just ten Ben heard a scrabbling noise followed by a splash, looking round he saw the pole stuck in the riverbed and Louise emerging from under the surface of the water, she had obviously got the pole stuck and been dragged in. Ben tried and failed to supress a laugh as a bedraggled and furious looking Louise hauled herself back into the boat. She grabbed the pole and pushed off, Ben who was still giggling grabbed the wheel and they headed on.
When they reached the area indicated on the map they docked the boat and tying it to a tree headed into the swamp. There were two paths indicated on the map, one that approached the stills from the front and one from the rear; splitting up DeLuca and Louise took the front path and Ben and Reggie the other.
As Ben and Reggie crept along trying to be quiet they realised that DeLuca and Louise were anything but, even as they drew further apart Ben could still hear them. Suddenly Reggie indicated they should stop as they were very near the stills; they crouched down in the vegetation and watched as a couple of Kindred came in sight and stopped bedside one of the stills. They didn’t look like Camarilla so Ben and Reggie readied their Tommy guns, Reggie had never used a gun before so Ben gave him a quick crash course. Suddenly the two Kindred pointed towards the area from which DeLuca and Louise were approaching and grabbed rifles. Ben yelled at Reggie to open fire and did the same aiming at the still nearest the Kindred. As the bullets smashed into the still the alcohol combusted and the blast destroyed the rest of the stills causing a massive fireball which was heading streight for Ben and Reggie! Both hit the dirt as the fireball flashed over their heads. Leaping up they ran for the boat as debris from tbe stills rained down like confetti, the two Savbat Kindred had been reduced to piles of ash.
When they made it to the boat they found DeLuca and Louise had rescued some Kine who had been forced to work the stills. The boat wasn’t really designed for that many but they all clambered in and started the engine, speed being more important than stealth now.
Ben realised Giles would need to be informed, there was a phone at the boatyard but DeLuca beat him to it so while he waited Ben put the Tommy guns back in the strongbox and took it out of the boat.
When DeLuca had finished Ben rang Naggie and asked her to call Gules and advise him that Ben wanted to meet him urgently and also to come and pick him up in the sedan with clean clothes.
While he was waiting to be picked up the others left, DeLuca taking the Kine with him. When Maggie arrived they placed the strongbox in the trunk of the car then Ben climbed into the back and got changed while Maggie drove them to Giles’s club. Maggie wanted to go dancing after speaking to Giles, Ben said that would depend on how the meeting with Giles went.
Ben was quite surprised how blasé Giles was about what had happened in fact he seemed almost pleased. Giles said he would deal with any Kine related issues so as long as the Prince was happy there was nothing to worry about.
A relieved Ben sent a runner to DeLuca with the news and allowed himself to be dragged onto the dance floor but only for a while before he put Maggie in a taxi and sent her home; he needed her to do quite a lot of company related work tomorrow.
Having sent her off Ben asked Giles’s permission to hunt which was given; he found two beautiful women and took a little blood, not too much as both were drunk and he didn’t want to be affected. He then spent a bit more time chatting to Giles before driving himself home.
He stopped the lift at Maggie’s floor and let himself into her apartment, he was relieved to find she was already in bed asleep, he left her note thanking her for organising the boat and asking where on earth she got the Tommy guns before heading up to his own floor.
